The first publications from before the organization of the Canal Society of Indiana. The first edition of “Indiana Waterways” was October 1981 and continued to be published through the Winter of 1988.
A particular issue of note is the June 1982 issue of “Indiana Waterways”. It is in this publication that recounts a meeting at the Allen County-Ft. Wayne Historical Society’s Old City Hall on May 22, 1982 at 6:30pm where our beloved organization was officially formed. The article “Organizational Meeting” written by Thomas Meek provides a detailed account of this meeting and a list of the first officers for the newly formed Canal Society of Indiana.
