Warrick Co. was organized in 1813 and was named for Captain Jacob Warrick, an Indiana militia company commander killed in the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811.

CENTRAL CANAL
County Line to Seven Hills Road:
Earthworks for the Central Canal began in the 1830s and were abandoned in 1838/39. Work continued again in 1846 and completed the canal as part of the Wabash & Erie Canal in the 1850s.
Points South of Seven Hills Road:
Construction started in the 1830s; it was completed and open for use in 1836. This section of canal operated until 1852/53 when it was added to the Wabash & Erie Canal.
